The Street Department is primarily responsible for
the maintenance and improving of Village streets and alleys. The
department maintains 7.5 miles of roadway (excluding state highways) and
is responsible for pothole repairs and crack sealing. They also remove
snow and ice from Village streets and other public thoroughfares.
Additionally, this department is responsible for the
yard waste pickup program which takes place the 2nd and 4th Tuesday's
from April through October. Any resident can place yard waste items in
their tree lawn within 48 hours of the scheduled pickup. Items should be
placed in a maximum of two barrels. Each barrel should not exceed 30
pounds. Limbs should be small and broken up to fit
in containers. No large limbs will be collected. Beginning in October, they provide leaf pickup services. Leaves
must be placed in clear bags and placed curbside. Only leaves will be
accepted during these pickups, not branches or other yard waste items.
The Street Department erects and maintains all
signage in the Village right-of-ways. These signs include stop signs, no
parking, street names, etc. Please report any damaged or missing signs
to this department. If it poses an emergency (i.e. a missing stop sign),
please notify the police department at 419-465-2345 immediately.
This department oversees all storm water related
issues including the installation and upkeep of storm sewers and assists
with other drainage projects.
The Street Department mows all of the Village
right-of-ways. They also provide traffic control with various projects
and hang the flags throughout the Village during the holidays.
