Division of Wastewater Treatment

This branch is responsible for the treatment of
sewage, disposal of residual solids, and the operation and maintenance
of the sewage collection pumping stations.

Effective collection of sanitary sewage protects
property and human health within the village. Treatment of sanitary
sewage benefits all downstream users. Environmentally sound land
disposal of treatment residuals benefits agricultural users and
community landowners. To these ends, the Village of Monroeville
collects, treats and disposes of sanitary sewage and its residual
solids. Under normal operating conditions the following criteria are
met:
- all conditions specified in the provincial Permit to Operate;
- the capacity of the sewerage system meets peak flows;
- an alternate service is provided within 8 hours of sewer main and
service connection failures; and
- the disposal of treatment residual solids is in accordance with
NPDES and the EPA.
- discharge is monitored quarterly, along with its impact on the
Huron River: according to the guidelines established by the EPA.
